A medieval historical itinerary that follows the ancient roads built by the Templars, connecting the most important preceptories of Monte Cucco.

TAPPA 1: Gubbio - Costacciaro

The walk begins at the place where the trial of the Templars of Monte Cucco took place.
Here we will travel along the old road that connected Gubbio to Costacciaro, created in the Middle Ages as a link with the great Apennine mountains.

TAPPA 2: Costacciaro - Pascelupo
15km - 5/7 ore

"His Majesty" Mount Cucco, the path climbs the mountain along the path Blessed Thomas took to reach the hermitage of San Girolamo, until arriving in the splendid fortified village of Pascelupo.


TAPPA 3: Pascelupo - Isola Fossara
21km - 7/10 ore
20 km 8 hours
The northern slope of Monte Cucco and its numerous hermitages that gave refuge to the Templars, until reaching the incredible Badia di Sitria, a thousand-year-old church where San Romoaldo settled.

TAPPA 4: Isola Fossara - Scheggia

From Isola Fossara, you climb the slopes of Monte Motette, which overlooks the dark "Valle delle Prigioni" (Valley of Prisons), until you reach La Scheggia, a small fragment that remains of one of the largest Roman cities.


TAPPA 5: Scheggia - Gubbio
17km - 5/7 ore
18 km 6 hours
We return to Gubbio along the grazing hills, a return that ends the journey where it began, in the city where the Templars were tried.
