Why a Templar Trail at Monte Cucco?

A Journey Among the Templars at Monte Cucco

Discover the fascinating history of the Templar Preceptory of Perticano, located on the eastern slope of Mount Cucco.

This Templar presence, historically documented, takes us back to 1310, when a trial was held in Gubbio against the Knights Templar of Perticano, still preserved today on a precious parchment in the Vatican Secret Archives.

Found and translated by illustrious local scholars, this testimony reveals the importance of the Templars in the Umbrian-Marche Apennines area.

Since 1981, thanks to the studies of Prof. Francesco Tommasi and Prof. Euro Puletti, the latter engaged in research in the area for over 35 years, documents and traces of the Templar presence in the villages around Monte Cucco have emerged in ever greater numbers.

These villages still preserve today an architectural and artistic heritage linked to the “Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and the Temple of Solomon”.

Walk the paths of the Templars and immerse yourself in the history and mystery of this unique corner of Italy, where traces of the past coexist with the natural beauty of Monte Cucco.

Join us on this journey to discover the Templars!
